Alle pendici del vulcano Popocateptl, nel cuore dello Stato di Puebla, in Messico, territorio caro alla cultura Azteca, è ancora possibile incontrare sacerdoti dediti a rituali di invocazione degli spiriti della rivolta, chiamati a diffondere la loro onda purificatrice sulla terra. Tra di essi, sentiamo pronunciare il nome di Emiliano Zapata, personaggio leggendario, icona della cultura contadina del Messico. Sangre, sinfonia visiva immersa nel buio delle grotte e della notte della campagna messicana, si infuoca di colori e densità che ci restituiscono sotto forma di materia cromatica l’essenza di tradizioni millenarie che rivivono ogni giorno nei riti eterni degli ultimi sacerdoti che ancora rivolgono al vulcano le loro invocazioni.

On the slopes of the Popocateptl volcano, in the heart of the State of Puebla, Mexico, a holy territory to the Aztec culture, you can still meet priests invoking the spirits of revolt with their rituals, asking them to spread their purifying wave on Earth. Among them, we hear the name of the legendary Emiliano Zapata, icon of the peasant culture of Mexico. Sangre, a visual symphony plunged in the darkness of the caves and of the night of the Mexican countryside, burns with colors that render the essence of millenary traditions coming to life every day in the eternal rites of the last priests who still offer their invocations to the volcano.

Adrien Pescayré è un giovane cineaste franco-messicano. Dopo aver studiato arte e fotografia ha realizzato numerosi corti documentari. Ha lavorato come aiuto regista per Jean Charles Hue in Mange tes morts (2014) e Tijuana Bible (2018). Negli ultimi anni ha insegnato cinema presso la TALM École Supérieure des Beaux Arts di Le Mans. È attualmente al lavoro sul suo primo lungometraggio.

Adrien Pescayré is a young Franco-Mexican filmmaker. After studying photography and art in Mexico and France, he made several short documentary films. He works as first assistant, notably with filmmaker Jean Charles Hue on his films Mange tes morts (2014) and Tijuana Bible (2018). Between 2017 and 2018 he taught cinema at the École Supérieure des Beaux Arts du Mans TALM. Currently he is developing his first feature film.
